Alpine View Motel

With nearly everything booked during our first trip to Kaikoura, we were glad to find two rooms here. The owners were super kind, the rooms were very clean, and each wee kitchen had the basics. The bed was comfortable too. There’s a path behind the hotel down to the black sand beach, where we had a magical sunset walk. A couple of small things: there weren’t power points near the mirror, so I used my straightener in the bedroom, and the bathroom counter was short on space. There’s no A/C, but a fan and wall heater are provided. We were very happy and I’d book here again.

We were heading south again for our next trip and would definitely stay here. The owners were lovely and very accommodating, and the rooms were clean and nicely presented. We needed somewhere at very short notice after rain washed out a car show in Rangiora. There were four of us, a one year old, and a car trailer carrying a car. We’d ended up at the wrong motel first, but they still managed to fit us in for three nights. There are great facilities and a lovely little walk to the beach. I’ll recommend it 100%, 10/10.

The refreshed rooms are really nice, and the kitchen has everything needed if you want to cook. It’s right on the beachfront with access. The service was so hospitable that they even offered to lend me their car for a trip into town to get dinner.

We had a really comfortable overnight stay in Kaikoura. The place was super clean, a nice size, and close to the beach. Thanks for having us.
