We slept really well, it was so quiet, and the continental breakfast was included in the room price. The next morning we continued along Danseys Pass Road, and the second stretch was spectacular in the nice morning weather. I'd been wanting to stay here for over 25 years, and finally got around to it. The drive from Naseby isn't especially long or remarkable, but arriving at the hotel is something else. It's in the middle of nowhere now, though it used to sit at the heart of the local gold mining community. Dating back to 1862, it has plenty of charm and history even from the outside. It was busy when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, though check-in was still fairly quick and easy. Our room was small but practical, and it didn't disappoint. The bathroom's old-looking copper fittings suit the history of the place. I loved the copper towel rail and the overhead water cistern. There's also a guest lounge down the hall with tea and coffee. We'd booked dinner ahead of time and had some drinks during happy hour first. Dinner was absolutely fantastic, really tasty. We'd definitely come back.

The meals were great, and the barman was really friendly. The place has improved quite a bit since our last stay in 2019, though it still needs a thorough clean, especially outside. They could use a broom or leaf blower! A bit of tender loving care could make it outstanding.

We were only passing through from Naseby to Kurow, so didn't have time to look at the accommodation. There were no vacancies when we went by, so it seems popular. Still, it's a very quaint spot and definitely worth stopping in for a drink.

The rooms were spotless and warm, and the bathrooms were excellent. The place has a great atmosphere and has been restored extremely well. We had a very good dinner too, which made for a wonderful experience all around.

Leaving the peace and quiet was the hardest part. The hotel is wonderfully relaxing, with a lovely team of staff, a beautiful setting, and a history and atmosphere worth experiencing. That amazing fireplace in the main lounge-bar really stands out. It's top class, and the team has done a top class job. I could chat about it all day, but really, go visit or stay a night or two. We will definitely be back. I hope this review helps visitors find this amazing gem and gives some support to the wonderful people and business behind it.
