Nathan and Debbie made us feel at home straight away. They’re kind, fun hosts, and the lovely private room and amenities were part of a beautiful, well-appointed home. Nathan also offers activities like hunting, fishing, a Fiordland dinner and farm visits, which give travellers a local perspective on the Kiwi lifestyle. This was the highlight of our 2.5-week trip to NZ. We can’t recommend Salt + Earth enough and would love to come back.

Three nights with Nathan and Debbie left us wishing we had more time. We were flown by helicopter to a remote beach, where we spent a beautiful day diving for crayfish and kina. Later, after a soak in their cedar wood hot tub with views of snow-capped mountains, we had an unforgettable feast of what we’d caught. Their hospitality is one of a kind. For a taste of real New Zealand with a little luxury, Salt + Earth is the only place we’d look for our next NZ trip.

We also visited a nearby farm and saw deer and newborn lambs. Nathan can arrange fishing and hunting trips into the Fjordland wilds, a remarkable landscape, and I can’t recommend them strongly enough. My wife and I spent two nights in his designer-quality home and loved the craftsmanship and attention to detail. The fireplace, with 270-degree views of Lake Te Anau and the surrounding mountains, was a particular favourite.

We don’t usually choose B&Bs, but this was a fantastic home base for a Milford trip. Nathan and Debbie are wonderful. They let you enjoy the beautiful view in peace, and they’re there with great meals and a taste of New Zealand life. It felt like a perfect, luxurious, bespoke stay, even for discerning travellers.

Nathan and Debbie arranged a trip for us and picked us up by boat after our hike. Before long, they felt like friends. The glass all around the beautiful house Nathan built gives you views over the meadow and lake, and from the moment we arrived they went out of their way to make the stay memorable. We were welcomed with salmon, tasty cheeses and wine, and breakfast brought fresh vegetables and eggs from their garden and chickens. Their warmth made the experience even better. My wife and I highly recommend this B&B for more than just a place to sleep. Nathan and Debbie know Fiordland and will help you enjoy the area.
