Allegra House

The house sits above Paihia, with beautiful views across the town and the Bay of Islands. We could watch the changing scenery from bed as the sun rose and set. A garden path leads down into town. It’s steep, but manageable, and quicker than it looks from above. The hosts were so welcoming and helpful. They suggested places to visit and walks, and even drove us to Haruru Falls so we could take the lovely trail to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. They’re clearly proud of Paihia and spend time caring for its gardens, fountains and other features. They also serve a lovely breakfast and bake bread. Our room was lovely, and it was a great base for exploring. We’d highly recommend staying here and visiting the Bay of Islands.

The hosts were happy to answer our questions about the area and restaurants, and the breakfast was generous and delicious, with bread fresh from the oven. Our room had a kitchenette and furnished balcony, as well as wonderful views. With its lovely position above the Bay of Islands, this is a fantastic bed and breakfast.

The suite is really spacious, with a kitchenette, balcony and roomy bathroom, and Brita and Heinz are lovely hosts. Getting there means a steep uphill walk or a drive, but the view makes it worthwhile.

Brita and Heinz made us feel right at home, and their breakfast was a lovely start to each day. Our room was clean, cozy and comfortable. The view was breathtaking and made for a relaxing break. We’ll definitely return when we’re next in Paihia.
