Star Queens Serviced Apartments

We found Star Queen Serviced Apartment on our last night in Auckland, and it made us feel welcome and at home. The service was above and beyond, especially from Sufi, who was hospitable and made sure everything was in order. It was a memorable stay, and I recommend the place. Everything seemed brand new and fully furnished, with a heated pool that was free to swim and dive in. The apartment had a washing machine and dryer, smart TV, telephone, fully ducted air conditioning, heaters for winter, microwave, dishwasher, and much more. Great job, and thanks to Sufi for the excellent service.

The room was clean and had the necessary amenities, so it worked as a place to crash after our flight. But it was a relief we'd booked just one night. It was farther from the waterfront than we'd wanted, and our basic room had no view, just a brick wall, unlike what the online pictures suggested. Parking was a bit of a nightmare. There was virtually no flexibility for early check-in, and with other guests having the same issue, nowhere to leave our luggage.

For the entire week, staff never made the bed, and the kitchen had no tea towels. When I asked for laundry powder, they told me to pick it up at reception. The apartment had only one key for two people, which was very inconvenient. Once, I asked if someone could open the door so I wouldn't wake my colleague, and was instead given unsolicited advice to arrange things in advance with them. At check-in I saw a face towel attached to the smoke alarm. Reception said they'd remove it, but it was still there when I checked out. This didn't feel like a serviced apartment to me.

For £70 a night, the studio was spacious, with a fully fitted kitchen and a balcony. Guests could also use the pool and gym. It was in a modern apartment block with many residents, about a 20 to 25 minute walk from the Harbour and Britomart area.
