Bella Tuscany on Kennedy

For one person, I got a studio room at the best rate I could find in town. The staff were welcoming, and there was a bottle of water and milk waiting when I arrived. The room was really clean, had everything I needed, and daily service was available if wanted. Even on a busy road, my room at the back was quiet, and the air con and Netflix were nice extras. I liked the private little seating area, the natural soaps that left my skin so smooth, and the breeze from the louvre window beside the door on a hot day. Very happy with the stay and price, and I’ll definitely book again.

The beds were comfortable and the linen was lovely, and everything was clean and tidy. Getting in and out of the shower over the spa bath was tricky if you’re less agile, and grab handles on the wall would help. There was also quite a big step outside our unit, which could be difficult for older or less agile guests.

After travelling and arriving late in Napier, we were grateful to have somewhere to stay. If we’d arrived earlier, though, we would have left as soon as we saw the room. The stale smoke smell was awful and had soaked into everything, so it was horrible to breathe all night. There was a hole or something in the shower that had been glued over, with a plastic bath mat covering it. We chose the place because we were tired and the reviews looked good, not because it was cheap. Now I do wonder where those reviews came from, or if we got the worst room. You get what you pay for, I guess. It needs a good makeover.

My family and I had a really good stay. The rooms were comfortable, clean and tidy, and we loved the spa.
