Yvonne made us feel like family at McHardy Lodge, and we enjoyed spending time with her over refreshments at 6PM each day. My wife Melanie and I stayed two nights in March, 2019. The room was tastefully decorated, and the place had a warm, charming feel. We ordered breakfast, which was cooked perfectly, and the fruit and muffins were delicious. I’d recommend the lodge to anyone visiting Napier.

McHardy Lodge was worth every cent for our Easter 2013 mini-break. The rooms were well appointed, the location was central, and the service stayed faultless throughout. Yvonne was a fantastic, welcoming hostess who made us feel at home from the first day. When we arrived at 7pm, she asked about dinner and offered a list of choices, then arranged our booking. Her local knowledge was great, and she could advise on places to visit and getting the most from our stay. We thoroughly recommend the lodge. Yvonne made sure the experience matched the luxury accommodation.

Our only regret was having just 1 night at McHardy Lodge. My wife and I were Canadians visiting New Zealand for the first time, and stayed there on 2014-02-02. We’ve been to many B&Bs, but would give this one a definite 15+ out of 10. Yvonne, the friendly and gracious proprietor, knew a lot about the beautifully restored home and its interesting history. She made us a scrumptious breakfast, and suggested the 'Guided Walking Tour' of downtown Napier, rebuilt in the early 1930s in 'Art Deco' style. We enjoyed it immensely. The guest rooms were gorgeous, and the house also had a billiard room, sitting room, outside deck, and pool. We highly recommend Napier and McHardy Lodge.
