We had a good-sized room and a great shower, though building work made it noisy during the day. On arrival, no receptionist was at the desk while our car was in the 10-minute loading bay, which was disappointing. There should be at least two people available for check-in, and guests should be told where to park to avoid problems. The location is central, but I wouldn't recommend the place.

Our corner room looked out over the high street and had loads of space, with a kitchenette and lounge area. The beds were comfortable, and the art deco styling is really attractive. Everything felt brand new and finished to a high standard after the refurbishment, so those older reviews don't reflect what we saw. I actually felt I hadn't paid enough for such a decent upgrade. It's right in the city centre, with bars and cafes close by, and the iconic Masonic Hotel across the road has a great restaurant and bar downstairs. We'll definitely come back to Napier.

We loved staying here and felt it was worth every dollar. The hotel sits right in the middle of the city, and the reception area stands out with its beautiful art deco windows. The interior has been redone to a high standard, with new carpets, wall coverings, bathrooms, and furnishings. Everything is new, including a built-in elevator and grand staircase. Beautiful hotel.
