The only part we didn’t enjoy was the shared unisex shower and toilet setup. Showering while a man was using the toilet felt uncomfortable. There are separate women’s and men’s facilities, plus family bathrooms, a couple of minutes away, which was helpful. Otherwise, this is a lovely, quiet spot by the beach, with waves and birds to listen to. The grounds and facilities were clean and well cared for, and the views from Bluff Hilll lookout over town and the water are great. It’s about 10 minutes from town. We stayed one night in our campervan and appreciated having a kitchen, laundry, bathrooms, and showers. There are just two stoves and one gas grill, so I can imagine a wait when it’s busy, though we didn’t have trouble. Toasters, a toaster oven, cookware, and utensils were provided. There’s no hair dryer. Laundry cost $4 to wash and $2 per 15 minutes to dry. My load took 45 minutes, so $6 altogether. It’s right on the beach, though there aren’t many powered sites, so book early.

We woke up to a gorgeous view from our beach-front pitch, and really enjoyed our few days here. The site was clean, nicely arranged, and well equipped. We had a self-contained camper and didn’t need the kitchen. At most Top10 parks, showers cost extra or run on a timer, which makes sense given the cost of heating water. 🙏

It’s a peaceful spot with good WiFi, around five minutes from the airport and beach and a 15-minute drive into napier. We were in a self-contained campervan, and having access to the shared kitchen, laundry, toilets, and showers was a real bonus. A holiday park that earns its Top 10 name.

We only stayed for one night, but I’ll definitely return. Our beachfront site was perfectly placed to watch both sunrise and sunset, and the park and amenities were kept really clean and tidy. Thanks for a great stay!

The good parts were the barbecue area by our campsite, with metal spatulas attached, and the pleasant outdoor seating in front of the kitchen. The bathrooms were kept up well. There are new unisex shower rooms in a raised container, with separate toilets on either side, though no hair dryers. By the kitchen are two family and accessible bathrooms, both maintained nicely and with a bench for putting things down while showering. As a gender non-conforming person, I felt more at ease using those. All the bathrooms have hot water at the sinks. A few things felt below what I’d expect from a Top 10 holiday park. Showers cost $1 for five minutes, while most Top 10s I’ve visited have free showers. The kitchen had no plates or cutlery unless you hire a kit, only one lid for all the pots and pans, no toaster, and a cheap plastic kettle instead of a Zip. There was just one recycling spot for the whole camp, with no bin in the kitchen. Several plugs under the TV wouldn’t hold my laptop charger. The WiFi was disappointing, especially with our Top 10 membership. The beach is steep, windy, and stony, so walking there was tiring. I liked the playground, but the only way up is a steep ramp that scared me in the rain. Why not add stairs? The camp is pretty, but my experience was very average. If you have a particular reason to stay in bay view, this camp may suit you. Otherwise, I’ll try the Top 10 in Hastings next time. For a decent shower, I’d recommend Ocean Spa pools: bring shampoo and conditioner, and you can use the hair dryers and unlimited showers, plus the sauna and steam room, for $20.
