I stayed in these apartments for a few months while I was a student in Nelson. The accommodation was clean and tidy, but very basic, and I missed having several kitchen items. It’s beside a busy road, so it was always quite noisy and not ideal for students who need to study or concentrate. The rent felt high for what you get, and power isn’t included. I paid about $100-150 extra each month for it. The location is amazing, just a five-minute walk to central Nelson or a garden, with a bus stop to town and the airport right outside. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Wifi wasn’t very strong, and only the first 5GB were free. I recommend an unlimited data plan from “rocket mobile” for $25 a month.

The wifi barely worked because there wasn’t enough bandwidth, and it cost $50. Electricity tokens were three times the national price. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear people unzipping their clothes or clearing their throats. As winter comes around in New Zealand, don’t expect much warmth. This place is a disgrace to the word “accommodation,” and the management are the rudest and meanest I’ve encountered. I’d rather sleep in my car than stay here again. How do they get good ratings? They cheat.

The rules here are pretty strict, with no parties or smoking and occasional checks that apartments are clean, which I personally appreciate. There are lots of college students, but it stays quiet. I can see how that might frustrate students hoping to let loose after leaving home. I was a little wary after reading reviews, but our family of four has had a very good experience. It seems to have been brought into shape over the last year or two. The place is clean and peaceful, and the location is hard to beat: we can walk to the Mai Tai river, town centre, Queen’s Gardens and the Centre of NZ. Mike and Carol in the office have been helpful whenever we needed them. When our fridge started acting up, they replaced it quickly. My daughter says Carol’s pep talk is the reason she went on her school camping trip. It’s nothing fancy, and some furniture looks well used, but it all works. I’d definitely recommend living here.

The apartment was on the ground floor and worked well for our family with two children under five. Service was good, though you’ll need to bring your own flannels. The room and furniture are a little tired, but they met our needs. Sound carries quite a bit, especially the floor noise from the apartment above.

Being able to walk into the city from Nikau was great, and the Centre of NZ, Maitai river and Queens gardens are nearby too. My son and I lived there for nearly three years before recently moving from Nelson. The apartments were always clean, and the residential team helped keep us safe after hours. Staff treated us with respect throughout our stay, and whenever we needed support, the team was there around the clock. We’ll always be grateful to Michael (Owner), Carol (Manager) and everyone there. We’ll miss you all. All the best.
