Alan and Candice were friendly and helpful during our relaxing two day stay. We enjoyed the beautiful views, comfortable bedding and a great breakfast. There’s a hot tub jacuzzi down a small hill, reached by stairs. If you’re elderly, be aware that there are stairs around the property with no handrails, and the gravel road leading to it may feel a bit daunting.

The location is outstanding, and Mr Anthony was very friendly. He cooked us excellent breakfast during our two night stay. The rooms weren’t cleaned while we were out all day, though I don’t know if that’s usual for a lodge. When we asked for extra towels, they were very friendly about it.

After completing the Abel Tasman Coastal Path, we stayed at Parautane Lodge for a bit of recovery. The private hot tub was just what we needed, with the same outstanding views as the lodge. It’s perched on a hillside just north of Nelson, looking toward the Abel Tasman National Park, and is one of the most spectacular places I’ve stayed. The hosts were kind, helpful and knowledgeable, and their dinner recommendations were fantastic. Our room was comfortable and spacious enough for us to repack for the next leg of our NZ adventure.

The sunset from the place was a highlight, especially with a beer and dinner cooked on the BBQ, so we didn't need to head out. The views are amazing. We came from Auckland for four nights, and the hosts were lovely. Our room was clean, tidy, and well appointed, with daily servicing, and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Just be ready for a steep gravel driveway. You need to feel confident driving on gravel, and I wouldn't try it for the first time in the dark.

After walking the Abel Tasman, we had dinner in Nelson, then made the easy ten-minute drive to the lodge for a soak in the tub. It was such a peaceful place to unwind, with amazing views and fantastic hosts. A brilliant way to end our South Island stay. We'll be back!
