The Innbetween Lodge and Backpackers

I stayed in February, so I imagine the rooms would be fine in winter, especially with heaters in them. During my stay they got ridiculously hot, though, and there wasn’t a fan. The bathroom lights run on a sensor, and when you’re the only one in the shower they can switch off before you’ve finished drying and dressing. Not ideal. The heavy doors slam shut, with no way to stop them. The balconies and chairs along the corridors are a lovely touch. At dusk, with the fair lights on, there’s a nice breeze through the top corridor. I didn’t use the kitchen, but went down one morning for water and it looked fine. I also wish I’d had a chance to see the basement, it looked kinda cool. The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are comfortable enough, so those issues were the only things keeping it from a five-star rating.

The lounge area is great, the place is spotless, and the free WiFi is first class. It’s in a perfect central spot, with a bar and restaurant downstairs. This is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in, and the staff were great. Only small drawbacks were slightly squeaky beds and just two power points in our room for six people.

We were in a room for two facing the bar right next to the hostel, and the singer carried on until late. He was amazingly bad, and there was no chance of sleeping. The room was hot and sultry, with no air conditioning, so keeping the window shut wasn’t an option. The location is very good, close to all the restaurants, the bathrooms and kitchen were clean for hostel standards, and the service was nice.

I was really disappointed after reading all the good reviews. The common areas are nicely decorated and the backpackers is clean, but the rooms are deceptive, with nothing but metal beds. Breakfast is included, though the porridge and bread weren’t tasty. The staff weren’t particularly nice and seemed to want to charge for every little thing, like luggage storage.
