Most rooms seemed lovely, with balconies and small tables and chairs outside, but neither of ours was like that. Our first room was below a concrete car park, across from the restaurant, and lights shone in all night. I asked at the desk for a different room with an outdoor deck and no bright lights. The next room was upstairs in the conference area, as far from everything as possible. It was very dated, had no pictures on the walls or outdoor patio, and got very hot. Only one small window opened, and just a couple of inches. It looked onto the garbage, and a semi truck parked in the alley right outside started up at 3am both mornings. We had breakfast at the restaurant. The eggs and toast were good, but our coffees never came, though the server still tried to charge us for them. It took forever, and we think she was annoyed that we didn't want the buffet. She was on her phone the whole time. When another server started, we had to ask her where our eggs were. A cycling company booked us for one night, then we booked two more nights directly with the hotel five days later. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The hotel's pool and its spot close to the city centre made getting around easy. We could walk into town, and the on-site restaurant, Flames on Forty, was excellent and very convenient. Room service was a nice extra, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We came to Nelson for a weekend with my family and chose The Nelson Hotel. There were three of us in a one-bedroom apartment that sleeps up to four, so it felt spacious and comfortable. It was clean and well set up, and the spa tub we'd especially wanted was a treat. A relaxing stay with everything we needed. I'll definitely return on our next trip to Nelson. Highly recommend!

The rooms are really spacious, and the accommodation is clean and comfortable. Some rooms near the road can be a little noisy because they aren't double glazed. The on-site restaurant is great and handy. This will definitely stay my first choice for work trips.

We stayed in the Studio Kitchen and had a really good visit. The room was comfortable and very clean, with two large beds, its own kitchen with a big fridge, a bathroom and air conditioning, which was great on hot summer days. We didn't use the hotel restaurant since we had the studio. The hotel is well located, just a short walk from Nelson City centre, and the check-in staff member was friendly and welcoming. I'd happily visit again.

The location was the main downside for us. It's not very close to the city centre, so we needed Ubers or a hire car to get around. As first-time visitors to Nelson, that made things less convenient. I'd also skip the hotel restaurant. It was pricey and had extra costs that weren't clear, including a $10 room service fee even when we picked up our own order. A few bathroom extras like cotton buds or a shower cap would have been nice too. The room itself was spotless and very comfortable, with amazing beds. Everything was clean and quiet at night, even the windows were sparkling. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and it felt like good value. A lovely stay overall, with just a few small improvements needed.
