The Beach House Nelson

After hiking the Heaphy Track, a night here with friends was just what we needed. The open guest house is beautiful, the hosts are friendly and easygoing, and the facilities are very nice. There was a large selection of fresh breakfast options, and the stay was so rejuvenating. Looking forward to coming back!

We made the mistake of booking this B&B in Nelson, New Zealand, this March. Please don't go there. Our ferry was delayed by storms on arrival day, and we emailed the B&B straight away. They first accused us of lying and didn't believe us. After we sent the proof they requested, they said they'd called the ferry company and wrote, “... would have waited for you until 10pm, but unfortunately we wont be able to wait until after midnight. We recommend finding an accommodation in Picton”. We received that while already on the ferry, with no place to stay that night. We somehow managed to find accommodation, but the B&B cancelled our booking, resold the room that same night, and still refuses to refund us. The delay was completely outside our control. We were two girls left without a place in the middle of the night, lost in an unfamiliar place in a foreign country, and we're still expected to pay? This is the worst guest management imaginable. They took our money and gave us nothing in return. Don't support them or make the same mistake we did.

There are plenty of room options in this lovely, spacious open-plan house. The owners were very friendly and accommodating, and everything was comfortable and very clean. It's close to both the beach and town. Couldn't ask for more.

The room was really comfortable, and the hosts were so helpful and welcoming. They also have a strong eco-friendly ethos. What more could you want?!
