Double glazing kept the rooms quiet, and the town views were exciting for our kids from the country. We came for an event at the YMCA and found the location superb. We had a family one-bedroom unit, with great parking and very clean rooms. A little paint was peeling and the spa panel was broken, but that didn’t take away from the cleanliness. You could tell the cleaners cared, and it didn’t have the cleaner smell or mustiness you get in many hotels. There was a full-length mirror, fans, a full Sky setup that my husband appreciated for the UFC, a spa bath, good bathroom lighting, and local magazines, a nice touch. The beds were comfortable. I couldn’t find blankets and was cold, though honestly I didn’t look very hard. We live just outside New Plymouth, but will definitely choose brougham heights next time we need to stay in town.

It’s handy for the CBD, just two blocks away, and Pukekura Park is a 15 minute walk. The rooms are spacious and comfortable enough, and I’d give it a solid three stars. Plumbing noise was very noticeable whenever water ran. Service was slack: tea, coffee, and milk weren’t replaced, towels weren’t changed, and the rooms weren’t made up. Those small touches could make a difference.

My stay was comfortable, I felt safe, and everything was clean. The location was great too. The only problem was a lingering moldy smell in the rooms.

The wine glasses were dirty, so I didn’t use them. The bath was too high to get into easily, and there was no support handle at the side. Its bottom was slippery, and the shower wasn’t suitable for older people.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location worked well for our weekend break. Our room was clean, though a few things were broken; we mentioned them to staff, but they weren't deal breakers. I'd stay there again.
