We had such a lovely time on Peter's spontaneous tour around the Island. Afterwards, he invited us to his home, showed us the house and garden, and introduced us to Iris. Thank you so much!

We expected kiwis, dolphins and albatross after a travel agent recommended Stewart Island, but seeing kiwis is only a possibility, and apparently means paying $200 per person for a guided night trip. Once we arrived, we felt three nights was too long and asked the owners to change our booking to two. They told us more guests were coming, but nobody arrived, and they still wouldn't refund the unused night. In all our other dealings in New Zealand, we'd received refunds, so this was disappointing. Check before booking that your plans won't change, because they don't give refunds.

Iris and Peter are wonderful people who looked after us so thoughtfully, down to the smallest details. The lodge and its location are lovely, and we had a beautiful, delightful and very comfortable stay.
