The coastal views make this a lovely spot to unwind, and you can walk straight onto the beach, where we saw a sea lion. It’s also good for birding and astrophotography. The shared kitchen is small, and there are only two toilets, so you may have to wait. Bathing with hot water costs $2 and is limited to five minutes to conserve supplies. There’s no dump site if you need one.

The beach and bush walks were lovely, and we enjoyed seeing sea lions so close. Keep an eye out on the beach, though, as they may be sleeping there. We were comfortable and warm, the beds were good, and the shower had excellent hot water and pressure. We really loved our stay.

We stayed in cabin 2 and found it very clean, with excellent beds, a proper kitchen, a very good shower, and really fast Wi-Fi. The park itself is lovely and close to the beach, where we saw lots of sea lions. The owners were friendly, and the road in was very good. Highly recommended!

We had a great spot on the point, looking over the water, with the next site left empty so we didn’t have camper vans right beside our powered tent site. Deborah and Grant were incredibly helpful. The beach is about five minutes away, with plenty of sea lions to see, and the grounds and facilities were spotless and tidy. For our last night, we switched to a self-contained tourist cabin because rain was forecast. It only brought a few showers, but we slept well. Newhaven made a great base for exploring the Catlins. Thanks, Grant and Deborah!

There’s a really welcoming, family-like feel here. We loved parking our campervan with a view over the beach. Highly recommend!
