We ended up arriving much later than planned after an evening with Blue Penguins Pukekura, and our host was so kind and flexible about it. The place was roomy, with everything we needed, a comfy bed, a properly hot shower, and plenty of local information. It’s a lovely little spot, just a short walk from the beach where we saw seals. There’s WiFi too.

Esther and Jack made us feel so welcome, and brought fresh free-range eggs, cereal, and fruit for breakfast each day. The little unit is right by the sea at Surat Bay, with an old Bach feel and all sorts of eclectic bits and bobs around. It was tidy and clean, and had everything we needed for our four-day stay. A wonderful break away 👌

Our hostess even ironed a shirt for my husband when he wanted one pressed, which was so thoughtful. We were warmly welcomed, and the room was clean and quiet. We’ll happily recommend this place to anyone looking for some peace and quiet, and we’ll be back. Thank you.

Jack and Ester made us feel right at home at Kepplestone by the Sea. The room was warm, beautifully set up, and had a great shower. They’d thought of all the little conveniences, and shared plenty of local knowledge. We even had free-range eggs from their chickens. It’s the loveliest place I’ve stayed in the Catlins, 10/10, and I’ll definitely return.
