Drovers Motor Inn

Room 12 is a good size for a couple, or even two people using separate beds. The layout works fine. The kitchen bench is built in a slightly unusual way, but it does the job. Shops are close by, and it's an easy walk or scooter ride.

We needed a room at the last minute, booked at 6pm, and were on the road until 9pm. They let me check in by phone, which was a real godsend. The room was fresh and clean, and the bathroom was very nice. It was great value for the price, and I'd stay here again.

We first found this gem in Palmerston North while travelling north through NZ, and liked it so much that we stopped again on our way south. Check-in was easy going north, and I'd recommend booking ahead. On the return trip we were running late and let them know. When we arrived, the blinds were drawn, fresh milk was in the fridge, and the heater was on. The rooms are affordable and very clean. On our first night, we couldn't believe how much space we got for the price. There was room for both a double and a single bed, plus free Netflix, a hot shower, and a comfortable bed and pillows. The Inn is easy to drive into, with roomy parking spaces. Although it's near the city, the rooms are quiet and restful. The Rose and Crown pub is across the road for a beer. Our hosts recommended two great restaurants for next time, but you'll have to stay there to find out which ones! This would be our first and only stop when visiting the area again.
