Quail Lodge

We were exhausted when we arrived and didn’t feel very hungry, so Samantha offered to make us a plate of cheese, dips, and vegetables. It was just right and delicious. The place is spacious, comfortable, and stylish, with an amazing view. One of us even said, “Why don’t we stay here for the rest of our time in NZ?” Samantha was a charming host and a great cook.

The rural view from the deck was so peaceful, with Auckland’s skyline in the distance, and the location worked perfectly for our early morning drive to Auckland Airport. Samantha served us a fabulous dinner there and readily catered for our vegan diet. Breakfast provisions were generous and delicious, too. We felt welcome and at home, and loved meeting Ollie, Samantha and Hamish’s very sweet, loving dog. Quail Lodge is a modern, self-contained bed and breakfast apartment, beautifully decorated, immaculate, and furnished very comfortably. This was a six-star experience, though our only regret was not staying longer. Thank you, Samantha, Hamish, and Ollie, for making the final night of our New Zealand trip one of its highlights. We can’t wait to come back.

The accommodation was superb, and the whole stay felt like being wrapped in a big, luxurious hug. Sam cooked exceptional food and made everything easy for us. My Mum and I were met with such a warm welcome, and the kindness from Sam and Hamish was second to none. The beautiful setting and scenery made the weekend truly memorable. We hope to return before too long. Thanks for having us.

The real star of Quail Lodge has to be Ollie, the beautiful retrodoodle. Samantha was a fabulous host, and we especially loved the little extra touches. The breakfasts were delicious, particularly the whitebait fritters, and we treated ourselves to a few of her home-cooked dinners, which were out of this world. It’s a lovely, tranquil place in a fantastic location, with a real “on top of the world” feeling. Thanks for having us, and we hope to see you again soon :)
