Those views from the decks are hard to get tired of. The mountains and lake shift through the day as the light changes, and sunset with a drink was especially lovely. The views stretch around the apartment, nearly panoramic when you include the bunk room. And Queenstown is right there, with most places only a 5 or 10 minute walk away. There are tours and activities nearby, including the cable car up to the summit, and Arrowtown is easy to reach by car or bus. The apartment itself is gorgeous and has almost 360-degree mountain views. The only thing that would have improved them was snow on the peaks. It has two decks, tables and chairs, sun loungers, and large sliding doors from the lounge and first two bedrooms. Inside, there's a spacious lounge and TV. Bring your own streaming apps, though, as they're available to log into. The kitchen has plenty of modern conveniences, including a dishwasher, coffee machine, oven, cooktop and microwave. The fridge and freezer are a good size for self-catering. There are two bathrooms, one ensuite off the queen bedroom and another beside the third bedroom, plus laundry facilities with a washer, dryer, iron and ironing board. The dining table seats six, with room for four more at the breakfast bar, and there are two outdoor tables too. It sleeps up to 9, with a king, queen, double-and-single bunk, and single-and-single bunk. It'd work for one couple, several couples, or two families, which makes the price very competitive. We found it worth every cent, and it had what we wanted: fantastic views, the ability to cook and eat in, and easy access to everything Queenstown offers when we fancied going out. There's a secure underground car park with lift and stair access directly to the apartment. The front door uses a code, so there are no keys to juggle. One heads-up: a mini van couldn't get into the car park. I've posted a photo for other visitors. The only real snags for us were that the gas for the cooktop ran out on the last night, and there isn't enough cutlery and crockery to serve more than about 5 or 6 people. The blunt knives made food prep harder too. Still, it's the best place I've stayed so far. And did I mention those mountains had no snow?
We were seven people staying for three nights and had booked on the basis that parking was included. Since we were travelling together, we brought a van, but the booking information said nothing about height limits. Once there, we were told it couldn't enter the car park, so we had to find parking elsewhere and pay for it ourselves. The way the problem was handled made a frustrating situation worse. When we raised it, staff were dismissive and initially said reimbursing us was “impossible,” even though parking had been advertised as included. After we pressed, they offered $100 off the bill, while our parking came to more than $175. It didn't feel like there was much accountability or a real effort to sort it out. This is about clear information and customer care as much as the cost. Vehicle restrictions need to be explained before booking, and problems should be met with professionalism rather than indifference. It was a very frustrating stay, and I hope management takes the feedback seriously and improves both communication and service.
