Swiss-Belresort Coronet Peak

It's a budget hotel, and you get what you pay for. The place feels dated: there were spiderwebs around our room, bits of mould by the windows, and bathroom paint peeling. The TV was big. We had a triple room with three single beds, which I liked, since in Europe they usually add a cot as the third bed. Each bed had an electric blanket, but only one worked. We didn't tell reception because it was late and we just wanted to sleep. Breakfast wasn't good, very basic, though there was enough to get the day started. The location didn't bother me. I knew when booking that it wasn't in town, and I was fine with that since it's cheaper. The Number4 bus runs to and from town in around 15-20 minutes and costs $2.50 per trip. Every Queenstown bus journey is $2.50, and you can get a Bee card and top it up. Ashlyn was lovely and gave really good customer service. Another female receptionist we met was lovely too, though I didn't get her name. For one or two nights, it was fine.

The rooms suited our needs, and the complimentary supplies and toiletries were generous. The service was just adequate, and it felt relatively expensive for the experience. It's about 15 minutes from Queenstown centre, but handy for the Shotover jetboat ride. There's a tavern across the street with good food options. They collected a safety deposit on arrival in case of damage.

Breakfast was yum, which was a bonus, and they gave us a good discount for bowling. But the bowling alley and communal toilets could use maintenance. We had five rooms, and every one was in poor condition. The bathroom shower mats were covered in black mould, and the bathrooms had black mould too. One fridge didn't work. We were told someone would come check it, but nobody did. A couple of rooms had no soap, shampoo, or conditioner. The hallway carpets were stained and partly lifted, and the walls were dirty. We were also meant to get 20% off drinks, but never did. Maybe they should turn the place into a hostel, since there's not much pride put into it.

We had a pretty decent time, honestly. The beds were comfortable, the room was quiet at night, and there was no mould in ours despite what other comments said. Our bathroom had only a shower, and the drainage was quite high, so water sat around a bit, but it was okay. There's a bus stop right outside and food options nearby. Not the best place, but decent enough.
