The rooms were spacious, nicely furnished and well looked after, and the lounge had an interesting range of books, including some real kiwi classics. Sue greeted my family and me with such warmth, and we had a lovely chat over tea and biscuits. She also made us a hearty, generous breakfast herself. The whole place felt like a home away from home. St. Itas Guesthouse is a hidden gem, and I’d recommend it to anyone.

We were near the end of our round the world Guinness world record tandem cycle attempt and badly needed a place to stay. This was perfect, with peaceful bedrooms and lounge, and fantastic food. The building is beautiful and cosy, the location is fantastic, and the staff are helpful and easy to talk to.

We were pleasantly surprised by how many staff there were and how helpful they were. The suite was spacious and very budget friendly, with a kettle and kitchenware, and the buffet was wonderful, with children eating for free. The location is close to the metro, and it takes about half an hour to reach the railway station. If your train arrives around midnight, you can still get to the hotel before the metro closes. There’s a petting zoo and other children’s activities about a 10-minute walk behind the hotel. Late check-in and check-out are available at a reasonable cost, which matters when you’re travelling with kids. Everything was clean and comfortable, and I liked it all.

The gardens are lovely, and the guest house has large, comfortable bedrooms and beds. The lounge and pool-table recreation room were clean and welcoming, and breakfast was great.

A friendly owner, a well-kept house, and clean, tidy rooms. The decoration and flower garden were lovely, and breakfast was well prepared.
