Grayson made us feel so welcome and shared so much of her wine knowledge. The setting was beautiful, the wines were great, and we had a terrific visit. We’ve been to wineries around the world, and this one really stood out. Thanks!

We took home three bottles to Hong Kong: Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Zweigelt, which we don’t come across often. The wines we tasted were excellent, and this became one of our favourite cellar doors of the day. It was our first stop, so we kept to three bottles with other wineries still ahead, though we could easily have bought more. Hans Herzog Estate is a premium boutique producer focused on organic wines, with familiar favourites as well as unusual, specialised varieties. We visited the Marlborough region on a self-guided Wine Tours by Bike outing. There are bike racks, and several tasting options during weekday cellar door hours, 9am to 5pm. We’d make it our first stop again next time we’re in the area.

Hannah made our visit feel personal and relaxed. She was warm, helpful and knew the wines well, taking time to explain them and even helping us plan the rest of our trip. The wines were outstanding, and we left with a really memorable impression of Hans Herzog Winery. Kate & Tony recommend it highly as a stop on a wine tour.

We went on a quiet Tuesday before lunch, and the place felt lovely and intimate. The person serving us was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and shared plenty of useful ideas for the rest of our New Zealand holiday. We enjoyed the tranquil vineyard and all the wines, especially the Sav Blac. We also liked hearing about the winery’s story, Hans and his wife Therese’s passion for wine, and the history of Hans’s family. Highly recommend a stop here.

Ruth welcomed us warmly, and the tasting felt cosy and personal. We don’t know a lot about wine, but learned plenty as she happily answered all our questions. Hearing how the wine is made and how much of a family business it is was fascinating. The wines were delicious, and we bought a few to enjoy and share with friends. You can tell Hans really cares about his wine and that it’s his passion, and that comes through in the taste. The Estate is tucked off the main road towards the river. It’s a small vineyard, 12 hectares if I remember right, in a surreal spot in the Marlborough area. I’d recommend it to anyone after really good wine.
