Imperial Hotel Rotorua

The location was fantastic, and the two adjoining rooms we stayed in were both clean, spacious and just right for our visit. We had a fantastic stay.

I wouldn't stay there again. The plates were greasy, the bathrooms were dirty, and there was lots of hair in the bathtub left by previous guests. I called reception twice, including in the morning, and no one answered. When I went downstairs, the man there was sitting and seemed too lazy to pick up the call.

We paid a low price and got a great hotel for it. The swimming pool was great, and having it right outside our sliding door was nice. The hotel is conveniently beside Whakarewarewa Maori village and down the road from Te Puia. Excellent for the price.

We'd saved for a long time for this Northland family holiday. Our 8 year old had decided he didn't want a party or presents for his birthday, just a family trip to do the luge, and he'd saved the luge money himself. We booked through a Grab One deal in August for tomorrow, but Grab One went into liquidation today and Imperial hotel won't honour the booking. They've cancelled it, which has ended the trip for us. We won't get a refund and can't afford to pay for accommodation a second time. We own two businesses, so we understand that business is business, but we'd hoped for a bit of compassion given the circumstances and timing. A very disappointing situation.
