Paroa Bay Winery

The cabin felt welcoming right away, with a cozy design that made it feel like home. The hosts had thought of so many nice provisions: house-made granola and bread, seasonal fruit, spreads, and a welcome bottle of Paroa Bay Wine. Nothing seemed overlooked for a comfortable stay. The views were a real treat, especially with morning coffee and birdsong. We also heard kiwi calls at night, which felt like a rare experience, and spotted birds unique to New Zealand the next morning. Taking the golf cart around the vineyard was a fun way to see the property. I had a delightful stay at the Off-Grid Vineyard Cabin at Paroa Bay. I’d recommend it for a memorable getaway as a couple.

The drive is always worthwhile for that amazing vista and a glass of wine. The views are fabulous and the service was good.

Even on a rainy, overcast day, the view was amazing. We’d booked earlier in the week while sailing around the bay of islands. They picked us up from the beach and drove us up to the restaurant, which was very nice. The meal was great, and the wine paired well with it. I’ve attached pictures of the food.

The view from the restaurant is amazing, and the wines were really good. I also went down to see the vineyard and winery, which were nice and well maintained. It’s a bit of a drive from the main town, but worth it. We’d hoped to dine there, though no tables were free, so I’d recommend booking by phone. The restaurant host was very kind; I had an interesting wine tasting, and the other staff were good with customers too. I’d happily visit again on my next trip to Russell. Cheers!
