Great Lake Motel Taupo

The bed was the best I’ve had in all our motel stays, and I had a really good night’s sleep. The room was very clean and comfortable. Shops and restaurants are close enough to walk to easily. Excellent stay, 10/10.

A nice, spacious motel close to the edge of lake Taupo. It’s well maintained and not over the top. The staff were just the usual level of friendly, which was fine. If you get the munchies, fast food restaurants are only a two minute walk away.

My family has stayed here for 10 years, but I’ve never had service this disgusting. When I tried to cancel a booking this morning, I was called a horrible person and a liar for refusing to let them take $300 from my credit card. I gave 48 hours’ notice before check-in. The website had no cancellation policy, and nobody mentioned one when I booked by phone. They said I should have cancelled at midnight instead of 48 hours before check-in. When I asked where I could have seen the policy, I was told, “everyone just knows and you should know.” Then he said, “fine cancel but never come back here again, you are just a horrible person to do this to us.” Very disappointing.

The jet spa was so relaxing, and the room was warm and lovely. It’s right by the lake and city centre, and we really liked staying here. Check-in and check-out were easy, and it was so nice to come back after a long day to a clean room and fresh towels. Highly recommend, and we’ll book again.
