Clarence Hotel

Before we arrived, we called several times to get our booking confirmed, but didn't hear back until the day of our stay. We were also unexpectedly moved because of plumbing issues, and found a small plumbing problem in the shower in the replacement room. It was disappointing that room service didn't include breakfast, since breakfast in bed would have been a lovely extra, and a quick staff check-in to ask if we needed anything would've been appreciated. We still really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious, beautifully presented and exceptionally comfortable, especially that divine duvet. The lighting gave it a lovely feel, and we were impressed by how quiet it was even with a full restaurant downstairs.

The breakfast staff member has been there for years, and as always she was attentive and friendly. The rest of the team were friendly and efficient too. The rooms are beautifully styled and full of thoughtful details, and the location is great. I've stayed in hundreds of international hotels for work, and The Clarence ranks among the best. I won't stay anywhere else in town.

Easy parking makes a visit stress-free, and Clarence brings quality, good value and hospitality together under one roof. Sally and the team put real heart into the food, the details and the community. Say hello to Sally next time you're ordering that sneaky pizza and supporting local. There's plenty to enjoy throughout the day: dependable breakfasts, especially the Eggs Benedict, homemade pasta and wood-fired pizza for lunch or a business meeting, and a warm, atmospheric setting for dinner, celebrations or an after-work cocktail. The Negroni is the best in town, and the Peroni is ice cold. Clarence feels like home whatever the occasion, and it's more than a restaurant, it's an experience and a celebration of food culture.

We spent three lovely nights at the Clarence hotel, then had our final dinner downstairs at the Clarence. Annie looked after us so well at check-in and again during that last dinner. Big thanks to her!
