The owner was very, very kind, and the room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. It had a kitchenette, desk and lounge area, and the water pressure was great. After a full day of driving, the warm room was a lovely welcome. I've stayed at many motels around New Zealand, and this was my favourite. It had a calm, cosy feel and was tucked away. There's a train, but I didn't mind because I knew what to expect.

I loved this venue during the few days I stayed for a school trip. The owner was really nice, and it's close to supermarkets and plenty of shopping. For the price, I didn't expect the rooms to be like a full house, with three bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen area, living room, two TVs, a huge wardrobe and two floors. The train station is right behind my room, but it never woke me up and wasn't as loud as some people say. If the noise bothers you, earplugs are easy to find in most shops.

The room was clean and the little kitchen had everything we needed. We slept comfortably, with a great bed and pillows, plus an electric blanket. The air conditioning was already on when we arrived, so it felt warm and welcoming. Check-in was easy, and I liked being given milk in a glass bottle, which means less waste. Parking was close by and straightforward. The train passes nearby, but it didn't bother us; it's just part of life. The shower pressure was great, the towels were large, and fresh ones were brought each day during servicing. We first booked one night, then extended to two. The owner was lovely on the phone and sent us all the information before we arrived. Checkout was simple, and the motorway and everything else were only a short drive away. We'll definitely be back.

The service was very good, and the location worked well for our overnight stop on the way to Christchurch, only 15 minutes from the ferry terminal. The room was clean and nice, and the bed was super comfortable. It did smell a little musty, as if it had been closed up, but I had no other complaints.
