Maggie and Ian make sure you’re comfortable, with great hospitality and good communication. The cottages are well equipped, and the beds are really TOP! It’s a perfect base for visiting Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. We’ll come back!

We were especially grateful to Maggie, who was warm and friendly and went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. Her local recommendations were invaluable. The cottage at Blue Thistle Cottages in Te Anau was spotless and beautifully maintained, in a peaceful, picturesque setting with gorgeous mountain views. It made a perfect retreat after exploring Milford Sound and Fiordland. A charming, quiet and cozy place to stay.

The privacy and view were superb, and it really felt like we had our own private land. We spent three nights in one of the cottages at Blue Thistle Cottages and were lucky to find it available. It was cute, cozy, immaculate and had everything we needed, including a comfortable bed and a well-equipped kitchen. Maggie kindly offered to let me help feed the sheep, but rain came in the morning, so I stayed in a cozy robe left for guests and drank coffee instead. The property is only a short drive from town and its amenities, and we got sunsets like these. I couldn’t ask for more. Best stay in New Zealand so far!

Maggie offered to let me join her to feed the sheep, which was such a treat. The cottages are adorable, immaculately clean and so well equipped, with spectacular views. Maggie and her partner were incredibly friendly and accommodating. It was a pleasant surprise to find that Blue Thistle is outside town. It’s a five-minute drive into Te Anau and right on the road to Fiordland National Park. What a delightful stay! Highly recommend Blue Thistle Cottages.
