Aaron Court Motel

I don't like leaving bad reviews, but we paid for two nights and left after the first to stay elsewhere. The mattress was sagging and worn out, and the kitchen floor felt sticky, like someone had spilled Coke. There was graffiti, peeling paint, and patched holes in the doors that hadn't been painted over. When we switched on the oven, it filled the room with greasy smoke. The carpet had been vacuumed and the big surfaces wiped, but the switches and knobs were grimy, and there were potato chips in the couch cushions.

I remembered this as a lovely place from a stay about 50 years ago, so after seeing the online photos we thought we'd stop for a night on the way through. The pictures gave the wrong impression. It was so bad that we gave up the money and went somewhere else. We still had to pay because we hadn't given 24 hours' notice, which feels unfair when you can't know whether you can stay until you see the place. I'd give it no stars if I could, but the site only let me choose one.

For such low-cost accommodation, the service felt like a real extra. The owner was getting the heater going before we arrived and offered to bring our luggage in. Everything was immaculate and tidy, and the service was truly lovely. Thank you, we'll stay again.

There's a huge living area, and it's a good option if you have a vehicle. The place is quiet, but food and shopping are a bit of a walk away, so you'll need a car to get around.
