Turangi Leisure Lodge

We only stayed one night, but it seems better set up for families staying longer. There’s a cold water pool, a BBQ that was in use and plenty of room for kids to play ball games. We relaxed in the spacious lounge in our room and used the oven microwave, which was great. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. Parking was easy, with large assigned spaces, and it’s walkable to takeaways, restaurants and a New World for groceries. Great location for a stop before heading south after rafting. Some comments call it dated, but I thought it was just fine. The spa, which I assume is a hot tub, was broken and planned to be fixed, but that wasn’t a problem. Reception staff were lovely and helpful. A fun little motel and great value, with very spacious rooms.

We stayed for one night on the way to Tongariro National Park, and the location was convenient and the room clean. Five stars for guest service: the front desk checked ahead to make sure we were still arriving as expected. We accidentally left an iPad in the room at checkout, and the staff quickly packed it up and sent it on to our next destination in NZ. Above and beyond!

We arrived late, but had already been given clear, easy instructions for getting into our room. The leisure lodge was just right for what we needed: clean and tidy, with a great kitchenette, mini golf, a pool, a BBQ and loads of parking. There’s a 24/7 laundromat one minute away. The bed was mediocre. I’d stay again.

The rooms are spacious, clean and nicely equipped, though they’re looking a little tired. There are plenty of amenities, including mini golf, spa pools and a swimming pool. It’s in a great location, and I’d happily stay again.
