Anglers Paradise Motel

For a clean, affordable stop on the road, this is a comfortable place with what you need for a short stay. Is it the Hilton? No. But I’d stay again if I passed through. The two-bedroom unit was roomy and clean, with the pool right outside, which was so refreshing after a long drive. It’s an older place, with quaint, old-school country-town lodgings, and that suited us for one night. The pool is nice, and there’s a private, park-like space for kids with a basic playground, a basketball hoop, and mature trees for shade. It’s close to town and the supermarket, around a 10-minute walk on footpaths or a two-minute drive. The unit was well equipped, with a full stove and oven and a microwave, and the shower pressure was excellent. The owner welcomed us warmly, was very nice, and gave us tips on places to eat and delivery options.

The room was very clean and tidy, but we were disappointed with our stay and won’t return. At check-in, the owner wagged her finger at my partner for parking the wrong way. He hadn’t known, and thought he was being courteous by parking the same way as the car in front, which didn’t get told off. The furnishings were dated, and the old heating systems weren’t much for such a cold place. We also ran out of hot water during our shower.

Rachel gave us a charming, personal welcome at reception, and our three-night stay was easy and trouble-free. The motel is dated and retro, but the rooms are big and clean, with hot showers and a proper kitchen, including an oven. There’s a small pool that’s fine for sunbathing or a quick dip, plus some old kids’ climbing equipment and table tennis that still work, though they’ve seen better days. It’s close to town and the supermarket. We wish the new owner well with the development plans.

The rooms were warm, comfortable, quiet, and clean, and the owners were friendly and helpful. It’s good value, with all the facilities you need and useful tips about local fishing. It’s not right by the river, but still an easy walk. The decor isn’t the most modern, and the basic broadband was okay, though don’t count on high speeds. All in all, I’d choose to stay here again. Thanks for a lovely, stress-free break.
