After hiking to and from Mueller Hut, we spent two nights here recovering. The bed was comfortable, the linens clean, and the water pressure was incredible, just what we needed for sore muscles. We were in Unit 4 and heard no noise from the guests upstairs. The owner was quick to help sort out a last-minute booking issue, and the little things like milk, coffee and a hairdryer were appreciated. A cosy, comfortable place for the two of us.

Rachel was lovely and very accommodating. I had the separate unit at the back, which gave me extra privacy. It was a bit small, but clean, cosy, comfortable and equipped with everything I needed. Being close to the centre of Twizel was a real plus.

Hydro Cafe on the Market Square is about a four-minute walk away, opens at 0700 Monday to Saturday, and makes good coffee if you need a caffeine fix. We were in Unit 1, the King unit, for two nights this past weekend. Coming from the Northern Waikato, we wondered if we'd be cold, especially in minus 2 degree weather at 0700, but it was lovely and warm. It had everything we needed and we could happily use it as a base for longer. Maybe our slightly boujee selves would have liked a dishwasher, though.

We liked the location and found the place very clean. We enjoyed the stay, but being in unit 2 with guests above us was a problem. It got very noisy, especially when they used the shower, and late arrivals made it hard to sleep.

The location near town was great, and the unit had everything we needed, including a kitchen and washing machine. We also appreciated the suggestions for places to eat and the discounts offered there.
