Jo and Pete run Matuka Lodge with such care, and the place went beyond what we expected. The facility and breakfasts were both beautiful, and it's in a great spot near Mt Cook. It was a wonderful way to end our glorious three-week trip around the South Island. We miss you, Jo! Buz and Laura.

The views from our room and the shared area were beautiful, with the trout pond nearby and the Southern Alps in the distance. Guy made us feel right at home, and the lodge was relaxed and had everything we could need. We had a thoroughly restful stay and only wished we could have stayed longer.

Jo and Peter made us feel completely at home, and their hospitality was outstanding. Matuka Lodge is a delightful place and worked perfectly as a base for exploring the Southern Alps and Mount Cook. We had a fabulous stay, thank you. We loved it!

We loved the private deck and the idyllic view from our spacious room. The bed was so comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. Being able to get coffee and tea at any hour was great. Mel and her husband run a wonderful lodge, and it was just right for our two nights in Twizel on our honeymoon. A great place to stay while travelling, and we'd highly recommend it.

Mel was so thoughtful, even texting a friend about a hiking trail we wanted to visit. She found out it was snowing and let us know, saving us a long drive. There were snacks out all day, including homemade cookies, and a fire in the living room kept things warm. The lodge has that old-school bed and breakfast feel, but also felt like our own little private ski lodge. Our host was warm and welcoming, and we loved our time at Matuka Lodge. 10/10, highly recommend.
