The Lakes Motel Twizel

After a couple of long rides on the Alps to Ocean cycle trail, that unbelievably comfortable bed was just what I needed. I stayed for two nights, and found the motel exceptionally clean and modern. The location worked perfectly for my trip, and there’s a locked area where you can leave your bike. I’ll book here again if I return to Twizel.

Coming back to a peaceful spot near the lake after full days out made this stay especially relaxing. We were a family of two adults and a child, and Lakeside Motel, Twizel was one of the best motel stays we’ve had. It’s well placed for Lake Pukaki and Mount Cook, and the room felt calm, clean, and well maintained. The kitchenette made travelling with a child much easier. We also appreciated the spacious, thoughtfully designed room, comfortable beds, and excellent bathroom and shower, with strong water pressure, modern fittings, shampoo, body wash, hand wash, and moisturiser. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, and the large TV with Netflix and other streaming options was great for unwinding. It really covered what we needed for comfort, cleanliness, and practicality. We’d happily return and recommend it to families, couples, or anyone visiting the Mackenzie region.

The town is really cute and has plenty of decent places to eat. The owners were welcoming and friendly, and my recently remodeled room was fantastic. I found the motel at the last minute, and it was convenient enough for the 50-minute drive to Mt. Cook National Park.

This was the best hotel of our 14-day trip across NZ, and we’d gladly stay at The Lakes Motel again. We loved the sweet Twizel area too. Warren was a fantastic host and made sure our needs were taken care of. Our room was quiet, comfortable, spotless, and beautifully appointed. The two built-in benches held plenty of luggage for several people, and there were lots of electrical outlets in handy spots. The kitchen had what we needed for tea, while the large bathroom had a powerful shower. I highly recommend staying here.
