Sunny Glen Cottage

It felt like a real home away from home. There’s a walking track behind the place, it’s close to town, and the beach is a straight drive away. The hosts have thought of so much, from useful tourist information to generous provisions. Inside, it’s spotless and tastefully decorated, and outside you can hear and see birds, including tuis. A restful, private place. Thoroughly recommend.

Ken and Ebeth treated us like friends, not guests. They even invited us for a drink on Christmas Day, and we had great conversations with their welcoming family and friends. Ken also showed us how to use the BBQ. The guest house is elegant but cozy, and you can see Ebeth’s care in all the design details. They said they wanted to make the kind of place they’d want to stay in themselves, and it shows. The furniture and equipment are new and high quality, from the washing machine and dryer to the outdoor BBQ, induction plate, grill, Nespresso machine, fridge with ice dispenser, and properly sharpened chef knives. Breakfast ingredients were excellent too: manuka honey, organic Puhoi Valley milk, fresh orange juice, and plenty of jams. Ken and Ebeth were the most welcoming, thoughtful, and generous hosts we’ve had. I hope we meet them again and can pick up our conversations.

A peaceful place with a great location and wonderful hosts. The facilities were excellent, the rooms clean and comfortable, and everything was beautifully appointed. We loved the delicious breakfast and would return in a heartbeat.

I was visiting a mate who was staying there. It was buzzy to see, and one positive thing in my life was that my grandmother owned the house.
