The room was clean and the location was good, but I’m not coming back. I’ve never stayed at another hotel that charged $4 for a toothbrush. When I arrived to check in at 12:30, I got a strange look. I knew check-in was at 3 and only expected to leave my bag, but a warmer welcome would’ve been nice.

The staff were wonderful and very helpful, and the hotel was peaceful and quiet. I had everything I needed in central Wellington, with the main attractions close by. I was upgraded from a studio to a suite, which had everything I could want and a great view over Lambton Quay. The room was very comfortable. I’ve spent plenty of time in Wellington for work and to see friends and relatives, and wish I’d found this hotel sooner. I’d gladly recommend it and will stay again.

The location is hard to beat, and the apartment worked well for us, which is why I’ve rated it as I have. We stayed two nights in a two-bedroom place on the third floor facing the street, but street noise wasn’t really noticeable. One bedroom has no outside window, its window faces the dining table. The master bedroom has an ensuite with a toilet and sink. The air conditioning works when turned up, and there’s lots of storage and all the amenities. The gym is on the same floor, has no windows, but is well air conditioned. Getting in can be confusing. Reception is on level 6, which is also where Google directs you when driving. From the ground floor street entrance, you need to swipe in or be buzzed up. Parking costs an extra $31 at a nearby covered car park, with unlimited exits, and worked well for us. The staff are friendly, and there’s a reception minibar with drinks for sale. The place is dated, though, with worn carpets and furniture that could use an update.

For a day in Wellington, the location is perfect, just 50 metres from the cable car. The room feels a little old, but the setting really is amazing. The WiFi didn’t work, and they hadn’t switched on the boiler, so we had no hot water that evening.
