Joy, the owner, helped make our stay especially enjoyable, and having a pub right next door plus a dairy inside was a real bonus. Our room was comfortable, with a heater and plenty of spare blankets that made a big difference. The common room was a good spot to relax. The kitchen is self-catered and depends on guests cleaning up after themselves, but the kitchen and bathrooms were still kept to a really good standard. Would definitely recommend National Park Alpine Lodge!

A good value stay in a great spot for the bike paths. The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the facilities were good. Nice hot shower with good pressure, and a large lounge and dining room with a fire.

I booked an affordable single room that was quiet and came with a sink and towel. The facilities were clean and close by, and I had a good, well-priced dinner and drinks in the bar. It's a great family run lodge, and the owner clearly cares about guests' experience. I'd recommend staying here.

Our small deluxe double room was just right for one night, and the bed was comfortable. The shared toilets and bathrooms along the hallway were tidy and hygienic, with no waiting. The lodge has a big kitchen for guests and a cozy common area, and we were very happy with our choice. Good vibe. The walls are thin, so quiet neighbors are a matter of luck. Things also get busy early, as the first Tongariro Crossing shuttle leaves just after sunrise and there's a lot of corridor noise. Reception and the shop next door aren't open all evening, then reopen at 8 am. We hadn't realized that and missed some useful information about the trek.

Joy checked me in for $67 NZ for a private room with twin beds. The shared HOT shower had great pressure, and there was a big lounge, a commercial-style kitchen, good WiFi and laundry. The place is awesome! Da Pub had good food too. The kitchen closes around 8p, and the bar closes at 8:30p. It's open Wed-Saturday :)
