The place was beautiful and close to the beach, and we were having a great birthday weekend until check-out. We left our room around 9 and were enjoying the pool when, a little after 10, the host said check-out was at 10 and gave us half an hour to leave. We were the only ones using the pool, so the policy felt unnecessarily strict. Parking was included in the price, but we weren’t supplied with it. The location is lovely, but we found the host rude and inconsiderate, and the reception wasn’t very polite.

The Cove Café across the road was a highlight. We only stayed one night in a cabin while bikepacking south from Cape Reinga, and slept really well. The camp facilities are clean and modern. We didn’t have time to explore nearby attractions like the coastal walkway, but next time I’d stay for at least two days.

Booking my one night stay was easy, and communication was great. The staff were super friendly. My studio was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. When I’m back in Waipu, this will be at the top of my list of places to stay again.

We had a lovely night here. The room was clean and nice, the staff were lovely, and the pool was great. It’s not right on the beach, but it’s an easy walk, so everything is handy, whether you stroll down the road or along the beach.

An unexpected gem and a great start to our trip around the far north. The beach and Cove Cafe are only a very short walk away, and the young woman at reception gave us a lovely welcome when we checked in on Sunday afternoon. Absolutely fabulous location.
