Te Wanaka Lodge

The guest lounge was the nicest part, with cozy seating on the upper floors and tea and coffee available whenever you wanted. There’s a garden hot tub too, though I didn’t use it. The lodge is within easy walking distance of town, and parking is either outside or in another space around the corner. Our room had enough space for two. It felt a bit dated, with worn mattresses and cracks in the bathroom sink. The beds were too soft, but the mattress heater was a nice touch. A good, cozy place to stay in Wānaka.

The lodge made getting around easy, just a short walk from Wanaka centre, shops, and restaurants. Our room was warm, cozy, and spotless, with comfortable bedding and a lovely mountain view. Breakfast was delicious and had plenty of choices. Staff were super friendly, and check-in was quick. I had a relaxing, enjoyable two-night stay at Te Wanaka Lodge and would gladly return. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Wanaka.

We arrived shortly after 9 am, and the woman making breakfast was still in the kitchen, but she wouldn’t prepare omelettes even though breakfast was included in our stay. That felt unwelcoming, especially as breakfast in most places runs until around 10. When we checked out, she was still there baking muffins, which made the experience even more disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

For what you get, it felt a bit pricey. The rooms are small and basic, with no tea or coffee in the room, and from the lower level we could hear people moving around upstairs and the showers running. The reception and staff were friendly, including our host Shane. The communal breakfast table wasn’t a great idea.
