Ramada by Wyndham Wellington Taranaki Street

The ferry from Picton was late, but the duty manager stayed until we arrived, which was very helpful and great customer service. Check-in was great. The room was surprisingly quiet, and it was easy to walk to restaurants, bars, and clubs in town.

The parking costs NZ $35 and uses a car lift, so you need a special fob from reception. To get there, go via Taranaki Street, turn left into the alley just behind the hotel as you cross Vivian St, and park there before asking reception for help. The hotel itself is terrific, modern and new, and centrally located, about a ten-minute walk from the National Museum. The room was a good size and had a washer and dryer in the bathroom.

We stayed in the king studio and had a comfortable bed, a well-equipped kitchen for the room’s size, and laundry in the bathroom. The front desk staff were very helpful. Great hotel.

Getting around Wellington from here is easy, and the staff were polite, helpful, and great. But my return after two years was disappointing. It used to be clean and great. This time the rooms had dust and dirt in every corner, streaks and stains on the walls around the seating area, and a bathroom that needed a thorough clean.
