The rooms were spacious and could suit students, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s close to Cuba Street and other amenities. The location also felt like a dodgy neighbourhood and wasn’t ideal. In our room the Wi-Fi signal didn’t reach well enough to connect from my side. The windows were dirty, and there was no kettle or cups, even though the room had a kitchenette. We were told they had to be requested or collected from level 1, which didn’t make sense. The shower was dark because of poor lighting, though that may have been specific to our room, as the neighbouring room was much brighter.

I was fine staying here because it was inexpensive and close to where I needed to be. But I booked a studio with a kitchenette and found no utensils, dishes, glasses, or cutlery. They said guests kept stealing them, so I had to use the shared kitchen on the first floor, where very little was available.

The elevator was stained and had liquid on it right from the start. Our room hadn’t been cleaned properly either, with rubbish left from the last guests and dust on the walls. Touching any surface left grime on my finger. The toilet was stained and worn, but the beds were worst of all, so worn I doubt the homeless people outside the “hostel” would put up with them. We booked last minute and paid $100 less than anywhere else in town that night, but if you’re considering this place, don’t. It isn’t worth it.

It has a bit of a college dorm feel, but the room was a decent size. WiFi in your room can be awful, depending on which one you end up in.
