Palm Pacific Resort and Motel

My daughter and I stayed Thursday and Friday night in unit 19. The location was perfect and quiet, and the beds were very comfortable. The unit was clean and tidy. Management and staff were friendly and knew a lot about attractions and events in WHANGAMATA. I’d recommend The Palm Pacific resort and motel to discerning travellers. We booked unit 26 for ourselves and our teenage grandson, and unit 21 for our daughter and twin teenage granddaughters. The location and family amenities are wonderful, including the pool, tennis courts and huge laundry. But the apartments are individually owned, so quality varies a lot. Our unit 26 was very mediocre and needs refurbishing, especially the bathroom, and it had very few kitchen utensils. We could hear vague noise from the pub. Unit 21 was much better equipped in the kitchen. We looked into other units and saw some that were nicely furnished and more upmarket, but empty. It left us wondering why we were given an inferior apartment.

The beds in unit 7 were saggy and really uncomfortable during our last stay, after many visits to Palm Pacific over the years. When my husband and I raised it, the managers responded with passive aggression. They said they couldn’t expect an owner to spend $1000+ on a new bed because it didn’t meet one guest’s needs, and suggested Blake court Motel or Breakers if we wanted more consistency in bed quality. Palm Pacific’s model is for individuals to own each unit while managers run it as a motel, and it clearly isn’t working in customers’ best interests. It seems the sleep quality is getting worse, along with the care for the customer experience.

I’ve honestly never seen art like this. There’s so much talent on display, and I really liked visiting this awesome place. So many compliments to the Artist.
