Chelsea House Bed & Breakfast

Jennie and Tony were great hosts, and Jennie generously shared her knowledge of places to visit. We stayed 3 nights in the spacious, very clean unit with a kitchenette. I wish we’d stayed longer, since there’s so much to see in the area.

Jennie and Tony are warm, attentive hosts who respect your privacy. Chelsea House feels like a home away from home, comfortable, scrupulously clean and furnished in a homely way. Jennie and Tony are wonderful hosts. Jennie took plenty of time to walk us through New Zealand and the Whangarei area, with several maps and lots of tips. They’re extremely friendly and forthcoming, and the place feels more like a home than a guesthouse. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, with a well-equipped kitchen. Breakfast options were lovely: toast, croissants, fruit salad, ham, cheese, jams and more. The bathroom and the rest of the place were spotless, the bed was super comfortable, and there were chairs on the veranda and in the garden for sitting out in the sun.

Jennie and Tony were lovely to meet, and we loved Chelsea House. Our room and bathroom were spotless, and the sitting area and kitchen suited us perfectly. We had everything we needed for breakfast and felt cozy and comfortable. Jennie knows a wealth about Whangarei and Northland, and has maps and brochures so you don’t have to remember it all. The street can be a little noisy, so sitting on the lovely verandah isn’t ideal, though the garden is worth seeing. We were too busy to sit outside much anyway, and once the drapes were closed at night, we couldn’t hear a thing. We’ll definitely stay again when we return to Whangarei.
