Quest Whangarei

We stayed for a couple of nights. The room itself was lovely, but check-in was confusing because staff had mistakenly booked us into two rooms. The front desk offered no help, and one staff member’s service made the stay a nightmare. I’ll never stay here again. In response, I want to clarify that we had booked and paid for one room before leaving Auckland. While we were driving to Whangarei, a staff member called to say it hadn’t been paid for. We told him it was, but he insisted it wasn’t and said reception would close before we arrived, so we had to pay straight away. That second booking happened because he hadn’t checked his records properly and told us to pay for a room we’d already paid for. We were two hours from home and needed to confirm our accommodation, so we paid. We had no problem returning the second room key. I’m not sure why that was mentioned in your response.

The rooms were spacious, spotless, and beautifully kept, and the central location meant we could walk to dinner. We booked one night for a group of 21, and Deepak and Lina were outstanding from the first email until we arrived. They handled all our questions and even sent each guest an individual confirmation letter. Since our vans were too tall for the hotel car park, they also helped us find parking nearby. The team’s professionalism and genuine care made the whole stay seamless. Highly recommended!

The room was clean and roomy, but the receptionist was disappointing: no greeting, eye contact, or sign of welcome. When I brought the key back the next day, reception was closed and there were no instructions, so I had to phone and ask. Parking spaces are very narrow and small, so I wouldn’t recommend bringing an SUV or larger car. I’d rather stay at a motel with better service, free parking, and easier access to and from the room.

The room was quiet, spacious, and in a handy location, with a decent bed and a good shower. The toilet kept leaking and refilling every minute or so, making unwanted noise even at night. The entrance was a bit strange too.
