Flaxmill Accommodation

The location is a big part of what makes Flaxmill so special. There are four lovely beaches, a lookout and scenic walks close by, all easy to reach on foot, and the ferry to Whitianga is cheap and straightforward. We’ve stayed here for the last two years and love the spacious, private sites and the beautifully kept grounds. The gardens show how much care goes into the place. The kitchen, BBQ area, toilets and shared spaces are thoughtfully laid out and so lovely that camping here feels relaxed and almost like glamping. Greg and Robbie have made our stays especially memorable. Even from the little time we’ve spent chatting with them, it’s clear how much they care about the place, the guests and the people they work with. They’re kind and easygoing, more like friends who want you to have a good stay than managers. We’re really sad to hear this is their last summer here. They’ve had such a positive impact on our time at Flaxmill.

We stayed in a beautifully presented three-bedroom house with a garden view. It was very comfortable and had great facilities. Flaxmill Bay is lovely, and the walks around there, Shakespear Cliff and Cooks Beach are beautiful. Getting to Whitianga by ferry was easy.

We loved our stay at Flaxmill. The cottage was tucked among trees and shrubs for privacy, but still had its own lawn so it didn’t feel enclosed. The rooms were clean and well looked after. It’s a great base for walks, close to Cooks Beach, and the drives to Cathedral Cove and Hotwater Beach were quick and easy. A quiet, peaceful place to unwind.

The hosts were so friendly and helpful, and went out of their way for us. My friends and I had an incredible weekend at Flaxmill and didn’t want to leave. The accommodation was modern and luxurious, with thoughtful design throughout, and the gardens were immaculate. We loved the birdlife too. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks for making such a wonderful haven!
