Housekeeping did excellent work, cleaning my room properly every day. The reception staff were friendly and helpful too, especially the night shift housekeepers who also handled reception duties so well. As a solo female traveler, though, I didn’t feel safe. There was nobody at reception at night, and strangers could get into the hotel and reach the guest floors without any control. My room had no safe, and the facilities felt old, including a rusty bathroom. They provided just one small bottle of shower and shampoo gel. A hair dryer and other basic amenities were only available on request, and the slippers I asked for cost an extra 5 OMR, which was disappointing. The staff made a positive impression, but security and facilities need serious improvement, especially for solo travelers.

We ended up checking out early because the bathroom flush never worked, despite reporting it to staff several times and having someone come to check. The hotel then sent us to Agoda when we asked for a refund for the unused night instead of taking responsibility. The rooms were also never cleaned during our two-night family stay, even though we asked multiple times. We often visit Muscat and have stayed at different hotels around the city, but have never had issues like this at Muscat Inn. The room service and facilities were the worst, and the front desk check-in took too long and was poor. A working toilet is a basic requirement, not a minor inconvenience. We strongly don’t recommend this property.

The rooms are a good size, and breakfast has limited options, though the chef will make your food fresh. It’s conveniently placed for MCT international airport, with highways and shopping malls nearby.

We really enjoyed the hotel. The rooms are big, the view from the balcony in room 703 is nice, and there are restaurants around the area. Wiam was a great receptionist, thanks, Wiam! We had a small payment problem, but it was sorted out the next day. No big deal.

The location turned out to be less walkable than I’d expected. I booked thinking the grand mosque was within walking distance, but it took nearly an hour each way, including walking along the highway because crossing it was impossible. That was my mistake, Google Maps is deceptive, and I hadn’t researched how much Muscat is a driving city. Other sights, including the museums around the Corniche and Souq, were a solid 23 or more drive away. Muscat is truly vast. Even so, the price was a great deal, and I had a great view of Muscat from the balcony in room 701. I stayed five nights and was really impressed with the staff. The bed was comfortable, there were sockets beside it, and the Wi-Fi was good enough for work and uploading social media. For video I went to the Mall of Oman 🇴🇲, since WeMeet coworking space was a 5-minute drive away. The Tanzanian chef was awesome, making delicious omelettes, halloumi salad and falafel sandwiches, with food at pretty cheap prices. Voice of Fitness gym was a 10-minute walk away and offered a day pass for only 1 rial. My only concern was the mini toiletries, which don’t seem environmentally friendly. I didn’t see recycling either, though plastics and tins can be recycled at the mall.
