Fanar Hotel and Residences

The beach area is huge, with several beaches, plenty of shade, palm trees, and different sports activities. We enjoyed the daily aqua gym and yoga. Our room at the Fanar Hotel in Salalah was spacious and comfortable, with a large balcony. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful, and there was a good variety of food. Smoking was common, though, and there wasn’t a clear split between smoking and non-smoking spaces, including the outdoor restaurant. As non-smokers, we found that uncomfortable. There was also often loud music in the evenings, sometimes past 11 p.m., from different spots including the nearby marina. The hotel is large and could feel crowded, especially at mealtimes.

The service was the real highlight for us. Everyone we met, from the beach bar to the restaurants, was warm, attentive, professional, and friendly. The resort also has plenty of facilities, including pools, a spa, and different dining options. We loved the breakfast buffet and especially the Mediterranean restaurant for dinner. Fanar Hotel and Residences is right on a pristine private beach, with beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. The five-star resort combines a luxurious feel with Omani hospitality. Our spacious, spotless deluxe room was very comfortable, with lovely bed linens, modern amenities, Omani carved details, and a terrace looking over the lagoon or mountains. It's a good setting for families, couples, or business travelers. Whether you want beach time, to explore Salalah, or to enjoy the amenities in a peaceful setting, we had a memorable stay and can't wait to return.

We especially enjoyed the animation team. Their evening programs were lively, fun, and well prepared. There are three kinds of beaches, so it’s easy for everyone to find a favorite spot. The resort is beautiful and spacious, with comfortable accommodation and grounds that are clean and well maintained. The food had a great variety at every meal, and the staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and attentive. We definitely recommend FANAR HOTEL and would happily return. Our holiday there was relaxing, with beautiful surroundings and a pleasant atmosphere.

The ocean beach was beautiful, and the sunrises and sunsets were unforgettable. We also had a great surf lesson, enjoyed tasty food from a different cuisine each day, and found the staff very kind. A few things could have gone better. At check-in, we weren't given a property map, and directions like “straight ahead and to the right” aren't much use on a first visit. The building name and a map would have helped. Our lunchbox wasn't prepared either. The receptionist wrote it on a scrap of paper and didn't follow up. The morning shift seemed more focused on finding someone to blame than making the sandwiches and vegetable box, which took 35 minutes. New Year's Eve was fine, although I wish the DJ had started earlier. The band didn't really suit the dancing, and the performances were much like the usual ones.
