Bocas Beachfront Lodge

The beach was stunning, and the owners were kind, down-to-earth people. My husband and I spent three nights here, and the calm, family-like feel made it such a lovely stay. The staff were wonderfully helpful and really tried to make us happy, including going out of their way to meet our requests. The hotel itself is beautiful, too. I’d happily come back the next time we’re in Bocas del Toro.

We found the place peaceful and relaxing, with clean, comfortable rooms and friendly staff who were helpful the whole time. Bocas Beachfront Lodge sits right on the beach, so the ocean views are beautiful. It was a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of Bocas del Toro, and I’d stay here again.

The crew, managers, and owners made us feel like family right away, and the chef was a wizard. The kitchen is small, so food can take a while. Ordering ahead is a good idea. He’ll make what you ask for and does it really well. Some of our best meals on the trip were here. For surfers, the spot is hard to beat: you’re right on the area’s best break, and you can check the waves from the property in the morning. They also have free surfboards to use. The whole place has that island feeling, with a nice balance of adventure and time to relax, whether you come as a couple or with kids and family. One thing to remember in this tropical paradise is the sandflies, or “chitras.” The hotel provides coconut oil for a reason. Put it on every morning. It makes a barrier the bugs can’t bite through, and worked better for us than regular bug spray. It felt like walking into a postcard. We’re already planning to come back.

You can paddle to two surf spots from here, with waves for beginners and more advanced surfers. There’s another good break for experienced surfers about a 40-second boat ride away. The food and bar were excellent, too. The place was clean, beautiful, and well kept, and waking up to the sea view felt like being on a yacht. Highly recommend.
